Councillor calls on Minister of Health to donate vacant building to Council

Councillor Rory O’Connor has written to Minister Stephen Donnelly TD to donate a vacant HSE owned building in Enniskerry to Wicklow County Council for the community purposes.

The building is called “An Curam” and is situated in the centre of Enniskerry village. It has been vacant for several years. The building itself is in need of repair, with estimated costs being close to 250,000 euro.

Councillor Rory O’Connor said “We currently are facing a housing and refugee crisis. We need fast action by Minister Donnelly to help get this building into the council’s hands, so we can begin applying for grants to get it repaired and turn it into something useful.

The longer it takes for this building to get into council hands, the more damage will be done to the building and increase the general costs of its full repair. I’m asking minister Donnelly if he can sit down with the HSE and find a way to speed up this process with the council as a matter of urgency”
