Death

The death took place of Eamonn (Edward) Lawlor, Blackbush Avenue, Drogheda, Co. Meath, formerly of Dunlavin, Co. Wicklow, 6th October 2022, unexpectedly, following a cycling accident. Eamonn (retired Garda Sergeant), much loved husband to Anne and loving dad to Chris and John. Predeceased by his parents Chris and Nance. Sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, daughters-in-law Ekaterina and Wendy, grandchildren Zach and Robyn, sisters Merci, Emma and Mary, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, mother-in-law Lily, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and his wide circle of ex-colleagues and friends in the cycling community. Eamonn’s funeral took place in Dardistown. May he rest in peace.

Annual general meeting

Dont forget to pop the date in your diary for our AGM, which will take place on Friday 21st October 2022.

This is an opportunity to get involved and help continue building & improving our club for the future.

We are run by & reliant on our volunteers and are always in need & welcoming of new faces to join and become involved in the club, the committee, coaching, fundraising, planning etc, to ensure continued growth & development from our juveniles, right up to senior level.

We sincerely urge past and present members & players, parents and all those in the community, looking to get involved in a fantastic growing club, to attend this  years AGM.

Annual General Meeting

The Imaal Hall will hold their Annual General Meeting on Monday October 17th at 8pm upstairs. All community members are welcome to attend. Help is needed with the following aspects of running the hall, Bingo on Saturday Night, putting out chairs for Bingo on Saturday afternoon and taking them up on Sunday morning, help with funding applications, help with fundraising events, key holders to allow access to the hall. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Tea Party

Dunlavin and District Forum – are looking forward to a great day out on Sunday October 30th with Afternoon Tea in the Imaal Hall. Money raised will be to help us get prepared for our Christmas Lights and make sure we have a bright festive season in Dunlavin. We’re looking for hostesses who can help us out by hosting a table for the day. If you can get involved contact Aisling 0879627389 or Linda 0872178843. We really appreciate your help!

Dunlavin Friendship Club

Great news that the Friendship club will be meeting every  Friday  at 3pm. All are welcome! Check if a neighbour needs a lift.

Heritage Trail

Dunlavin & District Forum have launched a new heritage trail around the village depicting the local history and heritage of the town. Well worth a trip around the village. Congratulations to all involved.

Dunlavin Library’s opening hours are now as follows: Tuesday 5-8 , Wednesday and Friday 10-1 and 2-5 and Saturday 11-1 pm. 

Your Library card gives you free access to books and audio materials as well as access to online materials and resources including magazines, courses and Find My Past which will allow you to discover your family history. Printing and photocopying service also available. Joining is free and no late fees are chargeable on overdue items. Great selection of new films in stock for young and old.

Mobile Recycling has Recommenced – Dunlavin 2nd Saturday outside Church of Ireland 10-12. Blessington 1st Saturday, outside Secondary School (Naas Road) 10-12. Hollywood 3rd Saturday outside the National school 10-12.

Panic Buttons – Anyone who is over the age of 65 may apply for a Panic Button. If you are interested, or know of someone who may require one and is living in the Dunlavin area, the necessary application form can be accessed by calling 086-1020303. 

Used Postage Stamps – Please keep your used postage stamps for St. Patrick’s Missions, Kiltegan who use them to fundraise. Stamps can be dropped into the Parish office any time. Thank you to all who have donated in the past.

Libraries have re-opened . Lots of exciting books in store, especially for children.

The Irish Cancer Society – is looking for volunteers to drive patients to and from their chemotherapy treatments in all public hospitals nationwide. Volunteers will need their own car but all expenses are paid. If you have 2 free days a month (Monday – Friday) and an active email address we would love to hear from you.
