Death

The death has occurred of Denis Farrell, Kennycourt, Brannockstown, Co. Kildare. Peacefully, after kind care from the staff of Dunlavin Nursing Home and Naas General Hospital. Predeceased by his loving parents Willie and Catherine, and brother Pat. Sadly missed by nephews William and Patrick, niece Alice, sister-in-law Rose, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, relatives and friends. Denis’s funeral took place in Kilcullen. May he rest in peace.

Arts and Crafts

A few spaces left in our younger (5 and 6 year old) term of arts and crafts in the Seomra, Imaal Hall, Dunlavin starting Wednesday 9th of November 2 to 3pm for 6 weeks. 72 euro for the term. Contact Anna from Basecamp Art Studio on 0861961214 to find out more or book a space .

Dunlavin Baby and Toddler Group – is back in Seomra (Imaal Hall) on Wednesdays from 9:30am-12noon. Please come along for a play and a cuppa. All welcome

CPR Training

To support our local Dunlavin Community First Responders Group, I wish to let you know of a free event taking place in the Imaal Hall Saturday 22nd October 10am -1pm. Please see below for more details.

Restart A Heart 

In conjunction with World Restart a Heart Day, Dunlavin Community First Responders are running a FREE CPR/AED information morning in the Imaal Hall, Dunlavin ,Co. Wicklow on October 22nd from 10am until 1pm. Drop in anytime. Open to all ages, bring a friend!

• Would you know what to do if your partner, father, mother, friend collapsed?
• Could you perform CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)?
• Can you use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) in the event of a Cardiac Arrest?
• Would you like to know?

Annual general meeting

This is an opportunity to get involved and help continue building & improving our club for the future.

We are run by & reliant on our volunteers and are always in need & welcoming of new faces to join and become involved in the club, the committee, coaching, fundraising, planning etc, to ensure continued growth & development from our juveniles, right up to senior level.

Tea Party

Dunlavin and District Forum – are looking forward to a great day out on Sunday October 30th with Afternoon Tea in the Imaal Hall. Money raised will be to help us get prepared for our Christmas Lights and make sure we have a bright festive season in Dunlavin. Heritage Trail

Dunlavin & District Forum have launched a new heritage trail around the village depicting the local history and heritage of the town. Well worth a trip around the village. Congratulations to all involved.

Dunlavin Library’s opening hours are now as follows: Tuesday 5-8 , Wednesday and Friday 10-1 and 2-5 and Saturday 11-1 pm. 
Your Library card gives you free access to books and audio materials as well as access to online materials and resources including magazines, courses and Find My Past which will allow you to discover your family history. Printing and photocopying service also available. Joining is free and no late fees are chargeable on overdue items. Great selection of new films in stock for young and old.

Mobile Recycling has Recommenced – Dunlavin 2nd Saturday outside Church of Ireland 10-12. Blessington 1st Saturday, outside Secondary School (Naas Road) 10-12. Hollywood 3rd Saturday outside the National school 10-12.

Panic Buttons – Anyone who is over the age of 65 may apply for a Panic Button. If you are interested, or know of someone who may require one and is living in the Dunlavin area, the necessary application form can be accessed by calling 086-1020303. 

Used Postage Stamps – Please keep your used postage stamps for St. Patrick’s Missions, Kiltegan who use them to fundraise. Stamps can be dropped into the Parish office any time. Thank you to all who have donated in the past.

Family Carers Ireland 

Family  Carers Ireland are seeking volunteers in Dunlavin and the surrounding area to give 1 o 2 hours a week to visit an elderly person in their own home who are experiencing loneliness and isolation. The Irish Cancer Society – is looking for volunteers to drive patients to and from their chemotherapy treatments in all public hospitals nationwide. Volunteers will need their own car but all expenses are paid. If you have 2 free days a month (Monday – Friday) and an active email address we would love to hear from you. We can offer confidential appointments providing support to women suffering from domestic violence in the community, including Court Accompaniment.
