Anam Cara Wicklow Monthly Meeting for Bereaved Parents

Monday,  17 October 2022;  Parkview Hotel Newtownmountkennedy;  7:15 p.m.

Monthly meeting of wonderful organisation that supports bereaved parents.

This meeting is only for parents who have lost children.

Anam Cara Wicklow offers a safe and comfortable setting.

Bereaved parents will have the opportunity to meet with other bereaved parents.

The evening is free and open to all bereaved parents.

Regardless of the age your child died,  the circumstances of their death.

Or whether their death was recent or not.

Anam Cara is the only organisation of its kind in Ireland with services to bereaved parents.

Anam Cara was launched in 2008 in recognition of the need for a safe space for bereaved parents.

A place where a bereaved parent can let the mask drop.

And where others might understand what family members and friends cannot.

Greystones Archaeological & Historical Society Monthly Talk

Arklow Pottery:  Early History and Background

19 October 2022;  Kilian House Family Centre, beside Holy Rosary Church;  8 pm.

There will be two speakers on the night.

Rachael Jane Linton is American born with Irish heritage.

She has studied and collected early American and European hand thrown pottery for 30 years.

Now living in Ireland,  her main interest is Arklow Pottery.

And the work of John ffrench,  a ceramicist with Arklow Pottery,  1962 to 1969.

Tommy Dunne is a lifelong ceramics collector.

He has the most comprehensive private Arklow Pottery collection in Ireland.

Talk will be followed by a “Roadshow” type table section.

Members’ own pieces of Arklow Pottery will be dated and valued.

We all remember travelling down to Arklow Pottery for great locally produced craft items.

The evening should prove to be most enjoyable.

Greystones Family Resource Centre|Photography Competition

Greystones Family Resource Centre is located in Burnaby Court and in Charlesland.

Its core services provide low-cost counselling and play therapy.

Rainbows programme for children and many activities for children and families during the summer.

GFRC is running a Photography Competition to celebrate their 20 years in the community.

The theme of the Photography Competition is “Community”.

What does “community” mean to you ??

What does it look like ??

Can you capture it in a photo ??

Competition is open to those over the age of 18.

Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal 2022

The Shoebox Appeal is back again for 2022.

Team Hope Shoebox Week runs from 31 October to 8 November 2022.

This year,  Team Hope aim to deliver as many gift-filled shoesboxes as possible.

These wonderful shoeboxes will be delivered to children for whom poverty is their every-day reality.

This is your chance to help a child from one of 13 countries across Africa and Eastern Europe.

You can fill a shoebox yourself or you can drop off empty shoeboxes to the local team.

Hedge Cutting Season Continues Until 28 February 2023

Landowners are advised that all hedgerows along public roads/footpaths that need trimming should be done before end February.

This includes householders and occupiers of lands.

All cuttings should be removed from the roads and verges.

Adequate signage and traffic management should take place during the trimming.

Roadside trees should be inspected and necessary action taken to prevent potential hazard.

Inspections should be carried out by suitably qualified personnel.

Japanese Knotweed SHOULD NOT BE CUT.

No ground disturbance should take place at these sites at any time of the year.

To take part,  you need to be able to play at least one tune.

Jazz standards like those from the Real Book series,  iRealPro app.

Piano,  drum kit,  mics and amps are in the venue.

However,  musicians are advised to bring their own amps and music stands.

This is a regular jazz session to develop and bring the jazz community together.
