Sharon Farrell announced as Wicklow finalist in Right at Home’s Carer of the Year Awards

Carer of the Year Awards

Sharon Farrell has been announced as a regional winner and finalist in Right at Home’s Carer of the Year Awards 2022. The awards recognise and celebrate the hard work and dedication of Care Staff who play a significant role in their communities, enabling elderly people and people with disabilities to continue to live independent lives in the comfort of their own homes.

Presented by Right at Home, a provider of in-home care and assistance for seniors and adults; the awards were established in 2020 to shine a light on the heroic work of Carers. Nominations for Right at Home’s Carer of the Year finalists were submitted by those who they work closest with including clients, client’s families, co-workers, managers, and supervisors.

Sharon will be one of six finalists who progress to a special awards ceremony in November where Right at Home’s National Carer of the Year 2022 will be crowned as they advance to the final stage of judging over the upcoming weeks.

Speaking about the awards, Iaesia McCrea, Business Manager, Right at Home South Dublin and Wicklow said, “Our Carer of the Year awards are a fantastic opportunity to recognise and celebrate the outstanding work of Carers who play such an important role in the lives of so many people. No matter what, our wonderful team of Carers go above and beyond to ensure the highest level of care is provided to their clients, some of who are the most vulnerable people in society. For our clients, knowing that we have trusted Carers to support them is a wonderful source of comfort.”

“Sharon is such a valued member of our team and really deserving of this award. Sharon is an amazing Carer who will without a doubt go the extra mile for her clients. The feedback we receive from clients is wonderful to hear. Sharon always ensures she spends some time chatting with her clients, making sure they are not feeling isolated and giving them back the confidence they lost during the midst of the pandemic. We wish Sharon the very best of luck in the national final in November, and we will be incredibly proud of her no matter what happens.”

Speaking about her award, Sharon said, “I am thrilled to receive this award to progress to the final in November. Working as a Carer is incredibly fulfilling and I am lucky to support some amazing individuals while they continue to live independent lives in the comfort of their own homes. I work with a really great team and while of course, there will always be hurdles to overcome, we tackle them head-on. I look forward to representing Wicklow and my colleagues at the national awards in November and celebrating the amazing work of Carers.”

The national winner of Right at Home’s Carer of the Year will be announced at an awards ceremony in Dublin on November 11th where the winner will be unveiled.
