Local woman Julie Davis competed alongside some of the most talented permanent make up artists in the country this month. The standard was extremely high as the WULOP (World Universal League of Permanent Make Up) held their Irish heats in Dublin with 40 artists competing across 5 different permanent make up categories.
Wicklow business woman Julie is no stranger to running her own show, having recently departed Studio LR, which she founded back in 2015. Staying true to her Wicklow roots, Julie Davis Permanent Makeup in now located in Greystones, Co.Wicklow and offers elite services in Cosmetic Tattoo, Microblading, Semi Permanent Eyebrows, Lip Tattoo, Lip Blush, Lash Enhancement and Eyeliner. Clients travel from all over Ireland to avail of Julie’s services and she has become well known across the industry for her consistently high calibre work, particularly in the area of correction of permanent make up work.
With 15 years of beauty industry experience already behind her, Julie began her journey to specialisation in Permanent make up back in 2015 and has been perfecting her craft ever since, achieving multiple accreditations along the way. She initially trained under Haj Aslam at the Microblading & Micropigmentation Training Academy and not one to rest on her laurels, Julie has continued to broaden her spectrum of services to the beauty industry to include training, mentorship, advanced industry education and Business Consultancy.
Julie, who hails from Bray and later lived in Kilpeddar, says that she will of course be competing next year in the WULOP semi-finals with her eyes firmly set on representing Ireland at the World finals. This years finals will take place in Antalya, Turkey and will see over 200 make up artists compete for the World titles in make up artistry.
As if running her own business, lecturing, being a mum and competing in world class competitions wasn’t enough to fill her days, Julie will shortly be enhancing her skill set even further by undertaking extensive training in areola tattooing and nipple reconstruction. For survivors of breast cancer, the reconstruction or tattooing of a nipple can be huge as it can give back some of the body confidence which may be lost following mastectomy.
