Young Arklow man brings home Gold at World Solo Drumming Awards

Local man Tiernan Kavanagh of Arklow will no doubt be celebrating having won gold at the World Solo Drumming Championships in Glasgow this evening. Young Tiernan (4th from right in image with his bandmates) saw off 14 other competitors in his final to take home the coveted gold award.

What’s better that winning Gold on a World stage? Winning Gold twice on the world stage of course and Tiernan is testament to this having taken Gold in the same competition back in 2019 and the last time the competition was held due to covid.

A familiar face with Arklow Pipe Band, Tiernan can often be spotted playing at Charity events, Marching in Parades or participating in competitions around the country with his band colleagues.

Barely a season has passed since Tiernan graduated from CBS Arklow and gathered another clutch of awards for himself including accolades for his work ethic in multiple subjects including German, English and Physics. Unsurprisingly, he also scooped the award for Musical Excellence!

With talents like this, we can all expect to see more of Tiernan Kavanagh in the future.
