Aughrim notes week November 14th

Mass of Remembrance

The Vigil Mass on this Saturday evening November 19th at 7pm in Church of the Most Sacred Heart, Aughrim will be celebrated to remember our parishioners who have passed away in the last year. Any parishioners wishing to have a family member remembered at this mass should leave their name with a member of the Parish Pastoral Council in the church sacristy.

The numbers drawn in Aughrim Sports Club lotto on Monday November 7th were: 5, 20, 26 and 27. There were no match three winners and the jackpot was not won. The jackpot for Monday November 14th is  €12,200.  People who support the weekly lotto are lending support to the local sports clubs who are very much part of the community.

Town And Country Market

Based in the beautiful setting of the Pavilion in Aughrim NDAF complex the oldest market in Wicklow, it trades every Saturday from 10 – 2 pm.

The market is fully wheelchair and disabled friendly.  There are also disabled friendly toilet facilities on site.

The collective of stall holders goes under the name of the Aughrim Marketeers and has a family feel to being part of the market and also when you visit the market. A great craic.

There is a diverse range of offerings, free range from guinea fowl, chicken and even ducks eggs to fresh from the farm vegetables and bottled jams and marmalades.  Almost every product in the market is hand made by the individual stall holders.  A variety of artisan bread is baked and sold fresh each Saturday , as are delicious biscuits , fudge and cakes all from HSE approved sites.

Honey from the hive, collected, spun and bottled as well as hand picked herbs and spices to make up tasty, take home, meals.  There are crafters who make beautiful items such as baby clothing, toys and winter hats.

Our talented creators also make up their own ranges of natural aromatic creams, rubs and beard treatments, as well as a full selection of wax melts, candles, bath bombs and a special Christmas range of advent calendars to help count down the days until the man in a bright red suit appears above the roofs in his sled to deliver the seasonal joy.

We also have a specialist in natural healing products who is ever willing to discuss and offer products to suit your needs.  There is a local wood turner who makes up a selection of items, just perfect for Christmas gifts. These never to be forgotten items add a level of sophistication to any home or office.

Then for those needing “people petrol” we have our own local barrister brewing up a cup of the very best coffee in the county. Alongside is the Hot Dog King and his selection of breakfast wraps. Both carefully watch by our fur ambassador ‘Odi’ who is in attendance each week to welcome everyone and also all the furry friends who come down for a walk.

The local “New To You” thrift shop has an amazing selection of high quality goods, well worth a visit.  The Eircode for Aughrim Town and Country Market is Y14WK38 and if you plug that into your map app it will get you right to the venue.  We also have a Facebook page which is updated weekly, so you are up to date with who will be there.

Watch our Facebook posts for information on the Christmas Market and what specials and events will be added to the related Saturday.
