Here comes another well deserved Irish-language offering,  following An Cailín Ciúin.

A wry,  crisp and dry comedy about a still-mourning widow.

She recognises her dearly departed husband in a dog who mysteriously shows up at her door.

Róise and Frank will get you right in the feels.

Declan Clarke from The Irish Times says,  it is “a genuinely delightful film”.

County Wicklow Joint Policing Committee Meeting|10 November 2022

Little Bray Family Resource Centre,  Ard Chulainn,  Upper Dargle Road,  Bray;  7 pm.

Purpose of the JPC is to provide a forum for discussion of matters relating to policing.

Membership of the Committee includes Chief Superintendent and Senior Members of Gardaí.

Wicklow County Council Chief Executive and Elected Members.

Representatives from the voluntary and community sector.

The local community will have the opportunity to make their views known and ask questions.

All are most welcome to attend.

It is helpful,  but not necessary,  if questions are submitted before the meeting.

Sea Stacks Offshore Wind Farm Exhibition|10 November 2022

Greystones Sailing Club,  4 pm to 8 pm.

ESB is investigating the feasibility of developing the Sea Stacks Offshore Wind Farm.

The wind farm would be located approximately 12 km off the Dublin and Wicklow Coast.

You are most welcome to come along to the exhibition and learn more about the proposed development.

Soup and Sandwiches Luncheons|15 November 2022

Very popular Soup and Sandwich Luncheons are held each month.

St. Patrick’s Church,  Church Road,  Greystones.

Tuesday,  15 November 2022,  12.30 pm to 2 pm.

And each Third Tuesday of the month.

Suggested donation of €5 will go to charity.

Come along for fresh,  homemade food and meet up with friends,  old and new !!

Luncheon includes a wide variety of soups,  sandwiches and cakes,  specially made just for you.

Whale Theatre|Voices from Across the Irish Sea|19 November 2022

Special concert celebrating Ten Years of the Greystones/Holyhead Twinning Partnership.

Featuring the Holyhead Male Voice Choir and the Magee Brothers Traditional Band.

A not-to-be missed musical evening for everyone to enjoy !!

The Holyhead Male Voice Choir and the Magee Brothers Traditional Band are making a very welcome return visit to Greystones

Both groups will be marking 10 years of Twinning Partnership between Greystones and Holyhead.

Please join them for a magical evening of music and song.

A male voice choir has a very distinctive aura and sound.

The Holyhead Male Voice Choir overwhelmed its audience on their first visit to Greystones in 2019.

The five brothers in the Magee Brothers Band are a well known and popular Welsh family group.

This concert is a return visit to Greystones for them as well.

Their singing and musicianship are a delight.

You will leave the Whale Theatre clapping your hands and tapping your feet !!

Applications are now being invited for Grant Schemes funding.

These schemes apply to private accommodation.

The schemes include:

  • Housing Adaptation Grant
  • Mobility and Grant Scheme
  • Housing Aid for Older People

Applications can be obtained from Grant Section,  Housing Department,  Wicklow County Council.

Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal 2022

The Shoebox Appeal is back again for 2022.

This year,  Team Hope aim to deliver as many gift-filled shoesboxes as possible.

These wonderful shoeboxes will be delivered to children for whom poverty is their every-day reality.

This is your chance to help a child from one of 13 countries from across Africa and Eastern Europe.

You can fill a shoebox yourself or you can drop off empty shoeboxes to the local team.

Drop offs will operate from 8 to 14 November 2022,  Monday to Friday,  between 10 am and 12.30 pm.

Drop off point will be Hillside Evangelical Church,  Hillside Road.

Financial donations are always welcome,  as are supplies of children’s items.

Help would be appreciated from suppliers of games,  sweets and children’s items.

Please do not include liquids such as shampoo or bubbles, sharp objects.

Food or chocolate,  books with lots of words,  breakables or medicines.

Scary items such as Halloween,  war related,  masks,  toy snakes.

Come along to listen or at the Blues Jam Session.

Hosted by the Urban Mojo Blues Band.

They will play some tunes and you can play some tunes or join in.

All blues instrumentalists and singers welcome.

Hot Spot Music Club|Session with Canadh Le Chéile|Tribute to Gordon Lightfoot

Canadh Le Chéile is the singing group associated with Greystones Cancer Support.

It was formed by the famous Brian Whelan,  their Musical Director.

The group sings a wide selection of songs across many genres.

You will find your self singing along with them !!

For the second part of the programme,  Brian will be joined by ace guitarist,  John Hutchins.

They will celebrate the songs and music of legendary Canadian,  Gordon Lightfoot.

Performing songs like,  “If you could read my mind” and “Sundown”.
