Rathdrum Christmas Festival Kicks off on Wednesday

The Rathdrum Christmas Festival runs from 30th November – 4th December and promises festive fun for all the family! The Festival had been impacted by the pandemic in recent years, and is back with bang this year, including a fireworks display!

Rathdrum has been shining brightly for 19 years and this year the committee has purchased new lights to replace the old ones with the support of a Leader grant received from County Wicklow Partnership.

The festival commences on Wednesday 30th Nov, with a Music Concert in St. Saviours Church at 7.30pm featuring a host of local performers. Tickets €12, available on the night or from Avondale Sports. On Thursday, there will be a Wine Tasting event in The Corner House at 8pm. Tickets €20, available from the committee or in Centra.

On Friday, a Family Movie night will be held upstairs in Centra at 6.30pm. Entry €3 per child, Adults are free

Saturday’s event, in the new location of Parnell Memorial Park, kicks off at 1pm with a Christmas Market. A selection of traders will be in attendance with a wide range of Christmas goodies and gifts on offer. The family fun begins at 3pm and runs until 6pm with music, carol singing and fun and plenty of BIG surprises on the day! Santa’s arrival at 4.30pm and the switch on of the Christmas lights will be eagerly anticipated.

On Sunday, the day will start with a 5km Santa Dash at 10am from the Memorial Park with the first 100 entrants receiving a tee-shirt and bag. Entry is €10 per adult, €5 per child and €20 for a family of four.

The festival will conclude on Sunday with a fireworks display from 5pm in the Parnell Memorial Park
