Avondale Camogie club 

The AGM (annual general meeting) will take place on Wednesday 16th November 2022 at 7.30pm at the Avondale gaa sports complex Rathdrum. 

All members and players and parents are requested to attend to make sure of the smooth running of the club for the coming year 2023.

The Avondale camogie club have also set up their own O’Neills club shop on the O Neill’s website.

Wicklow County Council Arts Office 

Wicklow county council arts office invites the Rathdrum community to take part in a cultural engagement survey which aims to build a detailed picture of arts and cultural engagements in Rathdrum. 

The initiative reinforces Wicklow County Council commitment to place making and the survey is designed to capture the views insight and ideas of citizens of Rathdrum and surrounding areas Questions are asked about recent and future creative programmes and the purpose of this project is to help ensure that all future outcomes are deeply rooted and shaped by the community.

Rathdrum Tidy Town  Annual General Meeting ( A.G.M)

Rathdrum tidy town will hold their annual general meeting on Monday the 21st November at 7pm up stairs in Centra main street Rathdrum A67CH58. The group would like to refresh the committee officers this year and invite people of all ages with organisational skills basic accountancy and administration skills to apply. The group invites everyone to attend  and always welcome people who would like to volunteer with litter picking, weeding flower beds, general maintenances and helping with projects.

Ballinacor Community Project  Fundraiser 

Annual candlelight walk will take place on Sunday the 20th of November at 5.30pm in Avondale Forest park Rathdrum Entry is fifteen euros per car or five euros per walker.

Refreshments will be served after the walk. 

Rathdrum Girl Guides 

Are there any young girls in the Rathdrum and surrounding area’s that would like to join the girl guides in Rathdrum.

Parish Craft Fair 

Rathdrum parish Christmas craft fair will take place on Sunday 27th November in the R.D.A hall Rathdrum from 1pm till 5pm fifty euro per table and what you sell is your own.

Annual Remembrance Mass 

Annual remembrance mass will take place on the 26th November 2022 at a special mass on Saturday at 6pm in the parish church in Rathdrum.

Rathdrum Cancer Support 

Rathdrum cancer support group invites you to attend a service for all cancer patients and their families and friends on Thursday 24 th November 22 at 7.30pm in Saint Saviour’s Church Rathdrum Everyone is welcome to attend.  

Walk N Talk Programme

Wicklow local sports partnerships are delighted to announce that they are running a instructor-led walk n talk programme that will be run every Tuesday and Thursday starting 8th November.

Beyond The Trees Avondale New Opening Hours For The Winter Time 

Seed cafe will be opened from 10.00am till 16.00

Tree top walk will be opened from 10.00 am till 15.30 last entries for the tree top walk will be 14.30 Congratulations to Beyond the trees Avondale who are featured in the National Geographic U.K travellers best of the worlds 35 destinations for 2023 and beyond.

Rathdrum Historical Society 

At their last meeting The Rathdrum historical society was  delighted to welcome Carla King as their guest speaker. Carla has done an in depth study on the life of  Michael Davitt. She gave a very interesting talk on Michael Davitt’s life after the land league era As well as initiating the establishment of the ladies land league, he campaigned on a wide range of issues including education and prison reform and housing for agricultural labourers. He also was a journalist and a writer and was widely travelled.   

The next meeting and talk will  be on the 5th December 2022 at 8pm in the Anne Devin Annex of the R.D.A  hall Rathdrum. The talk will be on the suffragettes. 


Congratulations to Conor Browne from wreaths and mountain view christmas farm Rathdrum who will be providing  a selection of fresh wreaths to 217 Lilds throughout Ireland.  Also Conor will be employing twenty new people in the business this festive season.

Condolences to the Mitchell family and extended family on the sad passing of Pat Mitchell. 

Pat had given a lifetime of service to his club Rathnew and his county gaa in Wicklow. 

Pat held positions on the Wicklow gaa county board over the years. 

Also Pat was stadium announcer at the matches in the Co Grounds in Aughrim and a chairde was the first word pat would announce at the matches. 

Also pat along with Michael Sargent on East coast sunday night sports talked about all the weekend gaa results and mid week gaa results. 

May Pat rest in peace amen
