Jennifer Whitmore TD (Social Democrats) has welcomed the announcement yesterday from the NTA that
an addition 84x service has been announced. An additional 84X bus will leave Dublin every day at
16:15 Mondays to Fridays. Deputy Whitmore has been raising the need for additional services on
this route consistently, including most recently at the Oireachtas Transport Committee last week.
Speaking yesterday Deputy Whitmore said:
“Following on from my discussion with representatives from Dublin Bus and the NTA regarding the
need for increased capacity on the 84X bus route at the Joint Committee for Transport &
Communication last week I am delighted to have had confirmation from Dublin Bus today that
additional buses will be added to the 84X bus route from Monday November 14th.
“These additional buses will operate Monday to Friday during term time. This issue has been a major
concern for constituents in Wicklow year on year and while of course we want to see more services
added to meet demand, today’s commitment from the NTA is very welcome indeed.
“I will continue to monitor the situation closely. I look forward to the upcoming briefing with the
NTA to discuss further developments and thank them for their quick resolution of this matter after I
had raised it with them.”
