Monday nights friendly against Morocco ended in a 4-0 win to the Republic of Ireland’s women’s team. The match kicked off at a fast pace with Campbell curling the first goal into the back of the net barely 2 minutes in. McCabe came up the rear, converting a penalty to a score in the 8th minute.
Vera Pauw’s National side had come to win and although Morocco appeared to be playing a more fluid game as the second half wore on, it wasn’t to be. Blessington woman and Captain on the night, Louise Quinn whilst blocking a shot, helped herself to a 75th minute goal. More used to scoring with her head as she has done with her previous 15 International goals, Louise has said she was delighted. ‘Everything we’ve done this year since we started is what we wanted to achieve. We have done it together, everyone has brought their game on, the team spirit, the communication, the bond we have is second to none.’
Megan Campbell, Katie McCabe and Kyra Carusa joined Louise Quinn as goal scorers on the night. Carusa placing a 79th minute goal to bring Ireland 4-0 ahead on what was also the occasion of her 27th Birthday.
Vera Pauw applauded her Captain on the night, which was also the 10th game of the year for her squad‘You can see what I think about her, she is so focused, a super person to have around, a leader’.
