Brady Calls for Support for the Cost-Of-Living and Housing Protest this Saturday Outside Leinster House

Cost of living Protest Saturday 17th

Wicklow Sinn Féin TD John Brady speaking today ahead of the scheduled change of Taoiseach, criticised the failure of the current coalition government to get to grips with the cost-of-living and housing crisis. Brady was encouraging people from across Wicklow to make their way to Dublin this weekend to voice their protest at the continuing debacle in government.

Brady said:

“What the country needs is a change of Government, not a cosmetic change of Taoiseach!

The replacing of Micheal Martin with Leo Varadkar is meaningless, they represent nothing more than two sides of the same coin.

Across the state people are crippled with record sky high rents, record house prices and record levels of homelessness.

There are 11,397 people categorised as homeless in the state.

We have some of the worst rents in the EU. Workers and families are paying a horrific price for the failures of this coalition government.

Here in Wicklow, we have the highest rents in the state outside of Dublin.

Despite government commitments to build more houses the supply continues to diminish according to need.

This Government is out of touch, out of ideas and out of time, and they need to go.

I want to encourage as many people as possible from across Wicklow to get out this Saturday at and support the protest at the Dáil at 1pm this Saturday.
