It’s always a sign of cold weather when snow falls on the Wicklow hills and that’s just what it did overnight.
This morning the highest peak in Wicklow was covered in snow, over last weekend MET Eireann issued a weather advisory for the weekend ahead saying temperatures would drop to below zero.
Snow on Lugnaquilla has arrived later this year due to the mild weather.

TODAY – Wednesday 7th December
A cold start today with frost, icy stretches and some fog patches. It looks set to be dry with spells of crisp winter sunshine. Highest temperatures of just 2 to 5 degrees in light or moderate northerly breezes.
TONIGHT
Mostly dry tonight with clear spells and just the small chance of an isolated rain or hail shower. Widespread frost and ice overnight with lowest temperatures of -3 to zero degrees. Some patches of freezing fog may develop.
