Met Eireann issue Two Yellow weather warnings

Met Eireann have issued a Yellow weather alert for the entire country as we face plummeting temperatures and hazardous road conditions.

A band of wintry precipitation will sink southwards with the potential for black ice/freezing rain on surfaces on Thursday morning. As we move from Thursday evening into Friday morning, we can expect sharp to severe frost with icy surfaces, as temperatures as low as -5 degrees Celsius may be expected.

Two separate Yellow warnings have been issued:

00:00 Thursday 08/12/2022 to 12:00 Thursday 08/12/2022

22:00 Thursday 08/12/2022 to 10:00 Friday 09/12/2022

Recommendations are:

  • Check in on elderly neighbours you may have and ensure they are prepared for the cold snap
  • Make sure your pets are inside and have somewhere warm to sleep
  • Take additional care on the roads.
