Wicklow Fine Gael Minister Simon Harris is happy to announce that farmers in Wicklow are set to receive over €660,000 in payments under the Government’s Beef Data and Genomics Programmes (BDGP). These payments have commenced, and farmers are set to receive them shortly.
Minister Harris said, “I am glad to announce that farmers in Wicklow are set to receive over €660,000 in payments under the Beef Data and Genomics Programmes. The Government has commenced these payments and farmers included in these programmes can expect to receive their payments shortly.”
“These programmes have helped to bring about a reduction in Ireland’s greenhouse gas emissions while also introducing modern technology into the national herd and improving farm profitability.”
“The Beef Data and Genomics Programmes have also been a critical income support for beef and suckler farmers since its inception. This also year marks the final year for both schemes as they will be replaced by the Suckler Carbon Efficiency Program in 2023. The implementation of this new Programme will build on the successes of the BDGP and continue to support farmers in their work to adapt and improve in an incredibly innovative industry.” Minister Harris concluded.
The SCEP will pay participants €150/cow on the first 10 animals compared to €90/cow on the first 10 in the outgoing BDGP.
