Carnew notes week January 23rd

Lots of activities taking place at Carnew Community Care for 2023.

Starting on Tuesday 24th January – light exercise sessions to help everyone keep on moving, this is suitable all levels even those who don’t more a lot.

Sessions are delivered by Maire Doran, Sports Physiotherapist – a contribution of €3.50 per session or 5 for €15 is requested from participants.   

Time 11.30am until 12. 15am – 

Also starting on Tuesday 24th – Free Style Embroidery with the crafting group from 2pm to 4pm each Tuesday.  All are welcome to attend , plenty of help and encouragement will be given by those who know There are lots of materials available to help get everyone started.  Come along and enjoy plenty of social chat and a cuppa as well as the embroidery.

€20 requested toward the 6 sessions.


Carnew GAA lotto was not won, numbers were 5,11,18,25, lucky dips were Graham Keogh and Aoife Power, the next draw is 30th January and the jackpot is €12,500, tickets on sale from any local shop or online.

A craft class takes place every Tuesday from 2-4pm in Carnew Community Care for the next 6 Tues the group will do Free Style Embroidery with Flower Arranging for the following four weeks in the lead up to Easter . There were lots of other great ideas, that we can do during the year. A fee of €20 to cover costs and also a cup of tea on the day, please come along to keep this going and bring a friend or just come and do your own craft and if you know someone who would like to come and they might not know please tell them about it.


The lucky winner of our split the pot draw for Scoil Aodan Naofa Carnew who won €350 was Ellen Kennedy. Congratulations.

Our seller’s prize winner was Adam Collins and Brayden House won the lucky dip.

Our next split the pot draw takes place next Friday 27th January.

Winner of “Split the Pot” on Friday 20th January 2023 is Jesse Logue, Ballytarsna, – winning €150.

Congratulations to Eileen Kinsella, Carnew who was this week’s lucky winner of €219 in our Parents’ Association Split the Pot draw. Well done to Ann Doyle, Carnew, who won the seller’s prize of €20.

Our monthly Garda Station in Askamore Community Centre in on Wednesday January 25th 2023from 11am-12noon. All welcome.

Bingo continues Wednesdays at 1.45pm followed by afternoon tea and our famous sitting room music, singing and fun sessions take place every Monday from 1.30pm to 3pm followed by tea.
