Christmas Tree Recycling|South Beach Car Park

Christmas trees can be recycled until 21 January 2023.

They will be shredded,  composted and used again !!

Eire Óg Greystones|Ireland Lights Up

Join fellow walkers from Greytones for a 5 km walk around the town.

Walkers will meet twice a week,  starting at Eire Óg Greystones Clubhouse,  Mill Road.

  • Tuesdays       6 pm.
  • Thursdays      8 pm.

Starting 12 January 2023 at 8 pm.

Wonderful opportunity to get active in the New Year and meet new people.

Followed by a sleep out on the grounds of Carraig Eden.

Anam Cara Wicklow Monthly Meeting for Bereaved Parents

Monthly meeting of wonderful organisation that supports bereaved parents.

This meeting is only for parents who have lost children.

Anam Cara Wicklow offers a safe and comfortable setting.

Bereaved parents will have the opportunity to meet with other bereaved parents.

The evening is free and open to all bereaved parents.

Regardless of the age your child died,  the circumstances of their death.

Or whether their death was recent or not.

Anam Cara is the only organisation of its kind in Ireland with services to bereaved parents.

Anam Cara was launched in 2008 in recognition of the need for a safe space for bereaved parents.

A place where a bereaved parent can let the mask drop.

And where others might understand what family members and friends cannot.

St. Patrick’s Soup and Sandwiches Luncheons|17 January 2023

Very popular Soup and Sandwich Luncheons are held each month.

St. Patrick’s Church,  Church Road,  Greystones.

Tuesday,  17 January 2023,  12.30 pm to 2 pm.

And each Third Tuesday of the month.

Suggested donation of €5 will go to charity.

Come along for fresh,  homemade food and meet up with friends,  old and new !!

Luncheon includes a wide variety of soups,  sandwiches and cakes,  specially made just for you.

You will be made most welcome.

John Hinde and His Colour Co. Wicklow Postcards

Kilian House Family Centre,  beside Holy Rosary Church;  8 pm.

In the 1950s,  the quality of colour picture postcards left a lot to be desired.

John Hinde had a clear vision of what a colour picture postcard should look like.

He successfully achieved this vision in hi famous “Beautiful Ireland” series of postcards.

Hinde went on to be one of the largest and most successful publishers of picture postcards in the world.

James Scannell,  local historisn,  will trace the origin of the picture postcard.

He will have examples of postcards prior to the 1950s.

He will discuss the John Hinde technique which revolutionised colour picture postcards.

This will be a most interesting and enjoyable evening !!

GAHS looks forward to seeing you on the night.

Codling Wind Park Public Consultation| 24 January 2023

Codling Wind Park continues its Public Consultation process.

Face-to-face exhibition will take place at Greystones Sailing Club.

The public will be able to:

  • View the latest project proposals.
  • Speak to Members of project team.
  • Provide feedback via feedback form.

Exhibition will be open from 9 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm.

Codling Wind Park Dedicated Public Consultations Information Clinics

You can book an appointment to meet with Codling Park Wind Farm.

Appointments are availale on the following dates.

They run for 30 minutes and are held at a location to suit.

  • 26 January              11 am to 1 pm.
  • 31 January              1 pm to 3 pm.
  • 31 January              7 pm to 9 pm.
  • 1 February              9 am to 11 am.
  • 4 February              11 am to 1 pm.

Greystones Film Club|The Cry of Granuaile|26 January 2023

Whale Theatre;  8 pm.  Doors open 7 pm.

Admission €12.

Dale Dicky plays the grieving American filmmaker touring the West of Ireland.

Along with her Irish assistant,  she researches the 16th century pirate queen,  Grace O’Malley.

Soon the past and the present,  myth and history,  dreams and reality begin to merge.

This genre-defying blend of psychodrama and fantasy comes from Donal Foreman.

All will agree it was a wonderful afternoon and much enjoyed by everyone.

Come along to listen or play !!

All jazz instrumentalists and singers welcome.

Great opportunity to play with other jazz musicians.

Or to just come along and watch.

Please arrive early to sign in and ensure you get a chance to play.

To take part,  you need to be able to play at least one tune.

And then improvise over it.

Jazz standards like those from the Real Book series,  iRealPro app.

Piano,  drum kit,  mics and amps are in the venue.

However,  musicians are advised to bring their own amps and music stands.

This is a regular jazz session to develop and bring the jazz community together.
