No walk in service in Wicklow for children’s flu vaccine

Wicklow TD Jennifer Whitmore has expressed frustration at the exclusion of Wicklow from walk in clinics for children’s flu vaccine.  Speaking today Deputy Whitmore said:

“Today the HSE wrote to schools in Wicklow asking them to share information of walk in clinics for the children’s flu vaccine to families, however out of a list of 13 sites for walk in clinics, not one was listed as being in Wicklow. The nearest walk in clinic that could be accessed by Wicklow residents is in Enniscorthy on Sunday the 22nd of January. These walk in clinics are specifically for children aged 2-17 years old.

“It is great to see the HSE promoting the children’s flu vaccine. However, it is disappointing that the HSE and the Minister have not seen fit to organise a walk in clinic anywhere in Wicklow. We need to be making it as easy as possible for parents to get their children vaccinated. The HSE should be asking schools in Wicklow to share details about how to get an appointment through your local GP or pharmacy.

“There should also be consideration for many children in schools right now from other countries. Information on how to access these services should be made available in other languages, including Ukrainian.”
