5 Wicklow men have set a new world record for the fastest ever Atlantic row by a 5 person team.
Derek McMullen, Diarmuid O’ Briain and Gearoid O’ Briain from Rathdrum. Tom Nolan, Tinahely and Arklow man Shane Culleton set out from LaGomera in the Canary Islands over a month ago and have now reach Nelson Harbour in Antigua in the Caribbean in a time of 33 days, 12 hours, and 39 minutes.
The team arrived this morning to wild excitement on the quayside as they held aloft the tricolour to cheering crowds.
