NCBI Bray scoops top accolade at UK & Ireland retail awards

National Council for the Blind in Ireland (NCBI) has scooped two accolades at the UK’s Charity Retail Association Awards, the only Irish charity to be nominated and to win, not one, but two of these high profile awards.

The WOW! Factor Award for Best Shop Window was won by NCBI Bray, Co. Wicklow. Beating off stiff competition from leading UK charities including Oxfam, Blue Cross, DEBRA, Saint Michael’s Hospice and many more to win. An incredible achievement for the only Irish charity who were nominated for the awards. Awards which are awarded for successfully delivering innovation across the sector as consumers seek more options for affordable and sustainable shopping.

“This is a great achievement for the NCBI retail team, competing against some of the largest and well-established charity retailers across the UK. It’s a credit to the hugely talented and creative team that NCBI are fortunate to have on board. Together we have worked hard over the last few years to try to change the perception of shopping pre-loved in charity stores. Our vision is to create a boutique shopping feel in our new stores, elevate our shop environment, and raise the standard of charity retail.” Says Beverley Scallan, Head of Retail at NCBI

The Charity Retail Association held their Charity Retail Awards 2022 ceremony on Tuesday 24th January at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Birmingham. There was an incredibly high standard of nominations across the UK charity retail sector and NCBI Retail was shortlisted for the two ‘The WOW! Factor Awards’, which celebrate creativity within the charity retail sector and the amazing work put in by shop managers and their teams. NCBI Capel St, Dublin walked away with the only other Irish award on the night – The WOW! Factor Award for Best Shop Interior

The NCBI team were also shortlisted (a shortlist of 3 nominees) in two other categories, NCBI CEO Chris White was shortlisted in the ‘Most Supportive CEO’ category and NCBI Head of Retail Beverley Scallan for ‘The Leadership award’.
