Avondale Gaa Are Accepting Enrollments For The 2023 Nursery 

Following on from a hugely successful 2022 nursery programme we are looking to expand the nursery programme and currently accepting boys and girls born in 2017 and 2018 and 2019.  

We aim to begin from the end of January 2023 so please get in touch to register your place.

Our nursery programme works on developing your child’s basic coordination and movement skills  focusing on running and jumping and throwing . We will also include development of agility balance and coordination. 

We aim to do this in a fun filled environment focusing on game based learning. 

Registration for the year is twenty euros  you can register your child by contacting our nursery coordinator Eugene Dunne on 087 6569809 for more information

Presentation Of The Lord And Blessing Of Candles 

On Thursday 2nd February we celebrate the presentation of Jesus in the temple.

On this day Parishioners are invited to bring their own candle to the church to be blessed.

Please label your own candle with your name on it. 

Blessing Of Throats-Feast of Saint Blaise 

On Friday the 3rd of February we celebrate the feast of saint Blaise. 

The blessing of the throats will take place after 9am mass in Rathdrum 

Saint Bridgets Day 

Bank holiday from 2023 there is an annual public holiday in early February to mark Saint Bridgets Day. 

The public holiday is the first Monday 6th February 2023. 

Mass will be at 11am in Rathdrum Parish Church.

Scrap Metal Collection  

Saint Saviours School Rathdrum are having a scrap metal collection on Saturday 11th February 2023 from 10am to 3pm on the schools grounds.

Please see list below of items that are accepted. This is an opportunity to bring your unwanted scrap metal to have it recycled. 

We will accept all metal items eg Engine bikes, farm machinery, washing machines, dishwashers, metal, gully lead flashing, radiators, stove, gates, copper cylinders, metal frames, Gym equipment, bikes, sheep wire, tools, bearings, nuts and bolts, cutlery pots and pans, corrugated iron, electric cable,metal sinks and more.

NO FRIDGES OR FREEZER OR PLASTIC TIMBERS OR TYRES PLEASE.

Rathdrum Historical Society A.G.M

Rathdrum historical society annual general meeting will be held on the 6th February 2023 at 8pm in the Ann Devlin Annex at the rear of the R.D.A hall. All are welcome and newcomers are especially welcome to come and join us.

Congratulations to the Wicklow rowing team in the Talisker whisky Atlantic rowing challenge. The team set a new record for the Fastest crossing of the Atlantic ocean by a team of five rowers. Three of the rowers Gearoid, Diarmuid O Brian and Derek Mullen are from Rathdrum. Tom Nolan is from Tinahely and Shane Culletton  is from Arklow. Great Achievement well done to all.
