Break in at local business leaves owner baffled but determined

Gander 1

Locals to the Kilcoole area were delighted with the opening of new venture ‘The Gander’ in January of this year when local couple Thomas Messitt and his partner Colette Mackey opened up their funky new spot.

Barely into their 3rd month of trading and the pair have been thwarted with a number of small but infuriating issues, the most recent being frozen pipes. That was until they arrived to open up this Tuesday morning to find that vandals had broken into their unit.

Speaking with Thomas he has said; ‘We had to close for the day. It’s more the clean up and repair of the damage that’s the most annoying. For a small business, you are trying so hard to keep everything going and this just slows everything down.’ ‘You’ve got to just keep going’, continued Thomas.

The Gander, located at the junction of Main Street and Sea Road in Kilcoole have reopened this morning with their full menu available. If you’re passing by, why not give them a shout and a positive word.
