The West Wicklow Historical Society (WWHS) are hosting what will be their most prominent event of 2023. The event will be held in honour of Donal McDonnell, a well regarded member of the Society.
The upcoming conference will feature five lectures and two Q&A sessions with a selection of topics ranging in time from the Neolithic to the twentieth century. The lecturers are Alan Hawkes, Richard (Bosco) Lennon, Emma Lyons, Margaret Murphy, and Liam Kenny with Eamonn Sinnott. The opening address is by another historian, Monsignor John McEvoy.
Donal McDonnell, one of the Society’s best known members and a former officer, died on 12 June 2022. For over forty years he was associated with the WWHS and he came to be synonymous with the Society. Donal had a rich knowledge of local history that included diverse facts about places, people and traditions.
