Wicklow Photographer takes winning picture in PPAI Awards

Congratulations to Greystones photographer Nick Bradshaw who was awarded first prize in the Nature and Environment section at the Press Photographers Association of Ireland Awards on Friday night.

Nick’s picture shows a heron being chased by a mallard after snatching her duckling on the Upper Lake, UCD.
The judges said…
“Look away now if you love cute little ducklings. The photographer captures perfectly the exact moment a
heron flew away with a baby duckling and is chased by what we must presume is the mother. Nature is
wonderful but it is a rare thing to capture a moment of genuine wildlife like this.”

The Press Photographers Association of Ireland, the PPAI, is a not-for-profit, volunteer-lead organisation and draws exclusive membership that is open to most press photographers from across Ireland’s four provinces.
