Popular Wicklow Cafe and tourist venue has confirmed it will close next month

Crafternoon Tea 1

In a shock announcement, the Owners of Craftnernoon Tea on Blessington Main street took to social media last week to announce their impending closure next month.

A popular spot for locals and tourists alike, their departure from the Town is already being lamented with dozens of customers and well wishers reaching out with memories of days out and recent visits enjoyed to the Cafe.

The victorian style tearoom run by Patricia and Maureen was a vision that came to life for the two ladies as they embarked on their idea of opening an elegant tea room back in 2018. Whilst the initial idea was to bring elegance, fancy foods and fabulous service to the town of Blessington, the pair have achieved this and so much more. The business has grown and pivoted over the years, most recently in response to the Covid 19 pandemic. The dynamic duo have added a raft of craft items to their shelves with bespoke items available for all ages included hand crocheted items made by the ladies themselves. Bake & Take has also been a hit for them and they may lean into this a little more should an alternative venue appear in the locality before the imminent closure.

Crafternoon Tea has become an integral part of the Main Street and it appears will be leaving a gaping hole in the landscape of the town.

Although the proprietors had no intention of shutting up shop, their lease for the building they operate out of is not being renewed. Despite their best efforts, no suitable alternative premises is currently available. Putting out a plea on their local facebook page, ‘The Blessington Blog’, the pair said ‘If anyone knows of possible premises in Blessington we are happy to consider, otherwise Crafternoon Tea will be moving to another town.’

If you haven’t visited Crafternoon Tea yet or perhaps you’re a long standing fan, you have until the end of May to visit and wish the ladies well.
