Following a glut of dog purchases during covid, animal sanctuaries across the country are seeing increased numbers of animals being surrendered. Although the pandemic may have been the reason for higher numbers of pet ownership, the cost of living crisis is being highlighted as one of the chief drivers behind the current increased levels of pet surrender.
At present, Wicklow SPCA at Sharpeshill have a number of animals looking for loving homes. You can view more information on some of the pets available here.

There are many ways to support the care of abandoned and surrendered animals even if you are not in a position to adopt a new pet.
