IRISH PRIDE OF PLACE NOMINATION FOR AVOCA VILLAGE.
Last Friday Wicklow County Council informed us that they are nominating Avoca for the IPB Pride of Place National awards 2023. Pride of Place is an all-island competition that recognises improvements made by local communities to create civic pride in their area. The competition focus is about people coming together to shape, change and enjoy all that is good about their area. The walking track in Rooster Park and the extended Red Kite walk are two projects which have shown Avoca in a positive light and worthy entrants in this national competition.
Avoca are entered in the population category 1-500. This is a great incentive for everyone to assist with making our village look great for the judging panel who will visit in July 2023. Avoca GAA Club are presently completing works in Rooster Park in advance of an official opening ceremony for the walking track in mid-June. Avoca Tidy Towns are currently finalising plans & details of the Woodland Play area in the Kilmagig Woods and completing the signage with New Trailhead Map for the new Trail. Volunteers who wish to assist with enhancement work in the village should contact Bernie Ivers on 087-1457973.
Let’s all make the effort to bring this prestigious award to Avoca.
