Annacurra notes week June 26th

Annacurra Tidy Towns

A huge thank you to those who finished off our pathway at Annacurra Cross a few weeks ago, Tom Doyle, Alan & Jonathan Byrne and Declan Byrne Coolbawn, it looks great and makes a big difference to the appearance of our village.

Thank you to Martin Smyth from Annacurra who has undertaken the stone masonry work of the bridge, he started last week and it’s hard to tell the old from the new work Martin has done.

Our committee are delighted to have received a grant towards resurfacing the car park of the community centre.  We have been awarded €15,550 from Raheenleagh Community Wind Farm Fund, there’s a shortfall of €8,000 which has to be raised by our community.  We are asking every club, organisation and individual who use the car park to help us achieve this.  Donations can be made online through our gofundme page “Annacurra Community Hall Car Park” or contributions can be given to any of our committee.  Thank you to those who have made donations so far, thank you to Annacurra National Schools Parents Association who made a collection at school pick up last week.  We are hoping to have this work carried out before the end of this summer so all donations are gladly received.

Judging has now started for the national tidy towns competition 2023.  We are still implementing our initial plans for the village so are a few years off high points and medals, for only our third year entering the competition.  Thanks to all those who have painted, strimmed, worked on the bridge, weeded, helped with the crossroads, those who water the flowers and keep the village litter free, we have achieved a lot so thank you for all the help and continued support
