Annacurra GAA  and LGFA

Congratulations to our local Annacurra and Tinahely ladies on the Wicklow U14 county squad this weekend who overcame Donegal in a fantastic encounter at Inniskeen Grattans GAA club in Monaghan on Saturday.

Representing Annacurra were Alannah Murphy, Emma Kirwan and Danielle Shannon. And for Tinahely Nia Winterbottom and Laura Gregan. Murphy led the charge from the outset with a solid first point of the game. Miss Shannon ever present in the middle of the park after returning from recent injury mopping up every ball ably assisted by Nia, strong in defense. Wicklow had a commanding 7 point lead at half time but they knew a Donegal onslaught would come in the second half, and so it did! Pushing Wicklow all the way to the final whistle and needing some crucial saves from Kirwan to keep them ahead it came down to the wire. Some fine footballing from Laura in the second half and a needed return to action for Danielle in the closing moments saw Wicklow hold their 2 point lead and close out the game with hearts in mouths all round! Next stop is the All Ireland final against Clare on June 10th venue TBD.

New Attractions.

Dancing with Declan, Townland Tug-of-War, Dog Show’

After a number of years absence, Declan Flanagan (Dancing with Declan) will be at the Festival and Field Day. His dancing was enormously popular the last time he was here before the Pandemic. We’re delighted that he is able to return this year.

Regarding the Townland Tug-of-War, we’re hoping that this will become an annual event for a trophy and bragging rights, We are also going to run a Dog Show, which we hope will be popular with everyone.

These are three attractions that we hope will grow in the next few years, so your attendance is so important. We’ll have more details about these three attractions in due course and we’re not finished yet.

Coffee Morning

Tinahely Community Defibrillator Group is  holding a fundraising coffee morning on Saturday June 24th from 10am until 1pm.  Free CPR training. Fantastic raffle prizes. Your support will be greatly appreciated.
