Hollywood notes week June 5th


Jive Class
Jive Class will take place in the Hollywood centre on the 20th June from 8.00 – 9.30pm.

Ann Clancy chaired her first meeting as Guild President on May 4th. Twenty members attended. Ann introduced her committee with their individual responsibilities for the coming year. Among the topics discussed was the upcoming Federation Social evening being hosted here in Hollywood and the summer outing. After the business of the meeting Ann showed photographs and spoke of her recent trip through South West England.

Hollywood ICA have a workshop morning every Wednesday from 10.30-12.30 and on the 17th of May Margo Ussher will guide us on a ‘Mindfulness’ course. The next Guild meeting is on June 1st at 8pm followed by our final ‘Mindfulness’ session.

One of the aims of ICA is inclusivity so if you feel you would benefit from membership you would be most welcome.

Music Generation
music generation Wicklow and music under the mountains are coming together to offer lessons on guitar, tin whistle, traditional flute, fiddle, accordion and concertina, lessons will take place in the Hollywood centre on Saturday mornings 10.30 – 12.30pm beginners and advanced levels welcome. age 8 – 17. cost is €8 for 40-minute Lesson in small group for 25. total cost per year is €200 payable in two online instalments. any queries contact musicgenertion@kwetb.ie

Hollywood Bingo
Bingo takes place in the Hollywood Centre every Thursday night at 8.00pm with two jackpots to be won  with one jackpot of €5000 and second €1950.

Hollywood Pre-School

Friendship Club
We Meet every Wednesday from 2.15 to 4.15pm in the Hollywood Centre. New members most welcome.

Hillbillies Football
Football is taking a break for the summer and will return in September in the Hollywood Centre from  8.15 – 9.15 pm. For further information contact Paul Clarke on 083 1522272.

Hollywood Bowls
The Club bowl every Tuesday nights in The Hollywood Centre between 8-10pm. New Members are always welcome, so come along and see what it is all about, it is a great way to spend the winter nights. Bowls are taking a break and will return 22nd August

Sinead O’Brien Dance School
Dance Classes are on every Friday with a new timetable 3-6yrs 4.00-5.00pm, 7-10yrs 5.00-6.00pm, and

Adult Badminton
Takes place every Wednesday night from 8.00 -10.00pm in the Hollywood Centre. For further

Hollywood GAA
Hollywood GAA Club Lotto draw results 24th May. The number drawn were 8, 9, 10, 26. There was no winner of the jackpot. The seller’s prizes went to Seamus Tutty 500. The €50 winners were Anna Corrigan 126, Tom Crampton 263, Eoin Curley online 63, Will Miley online 207. The next draw for a jackpot of €9,400 will be held on the 7th June 2023 at the Hollywood GAA club house. Neil “Plunkett” Boyle
A commemoration recently held at Knocknadruce, Valleymount marked the centenary of the death of Neil “Plunkett” Boyle, the last man to die in the Civil War in Co. Wicklow. A booklet is now available of interviews held in the 1980s with local people from Manor Kilbride, Blessington, Lacken, Kylebeg, Ballyknockan, Valleymount, Knocknadruce, Hollywood and Dunlavin, who knew of Neil Boyle.
