The challenge was the brainchild of Louise Beirne who says

’We wanted to do something special together as a family in honour of our Dad, our Mum and our Sister who have all sadly passed away. We wanted to focus on doing a positive activity to help raise funds for Purple House Cancer Support, a service that has provided valuable support to our family.

All three peaks in one day are challenging, but each time it got difficult we remembered what our loved ones had gone through, and it kept us going. We were also rewarded with fantastic views over the Wicklow mountains and the coast. It’s a really special day.’

Conor O’Leary, Director of Operations at Purple House says ‘We are delighted to be involved with the Beirne 3 Peaks Challenge, as we feel this event is a very special way to remember our loved ones who have sadly passed away.  Wicklow is the ideal location for this event with its beautiful mountain peaks, and we hope this challenge will give people the opportunity to enjoy the best that Wicklow has to offer, while also taking a moment to pause on each peak to remember a loved one.’

Hikers are promised some fantastic views on the day, down the coast and inland to the Wicklow mountains.
