Delight as Hidden Disability spaces to be provided in Bray at last

Hidden Disability Spaces

A motion by Cllr Aoife Flynn Kennedy and Cllr Melanie Corrigan back in April 2022 called for Wicklow County council in all new Council facilities to add a Hidden disability Parking space to acknowledge, support, and make more accessible parking  for individuals with a hidden disability.

At last Tuesdays Municipal district meeting they were both delighted to receive the news from the District Engineer that specifications have been sought and received from Hidden disabilities Sunflower scheme LTD, in relation to hidden disability parking spaces. Signing and lining has  been ordered for three spaces  to be provided in Bray at Eglington Road, Novara Avenue and Herbert road Car park.

The car park spaces will be outlined in white completely in filled, with a green road surface colouring,. A sign, provided by Hidden disabilities Sunflower stores will be adjacent to each space.

Both Councillors want to thank Bray Advocate Bernadette Nolan, for her support. Bernadette has been working for many years on awareness as well as practical solutions for people with Hidden Disabilities.

Both Councillors have also said they will continue to work  as members of the Disability and Inclusion Committee in Wicklow County Council DISC  and Wicklow County  council   to see  their other previous  motions are  progressed,  which include a space finder app being rolled out in County Wicklow, to alert anyone requiring a Disability parking space to where there is a free space,  and Communication Boards in  all playgrounds  in the County, for children with sensory  and other disabilities to be able to  express themselves and communicate.
