A woman aged in her 60s has died after getting into difficulty while swimming at Ballymoney beach in north County Wexford on Tuesday evening. She has been named locally as Maria Falls.
The woman was taken from the water and treated at the scene by emergency services around 8pm but was pronounced dead.
Her body was taken to University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination will be carried out and a file prepared for the coroner.
