Happy Pear join International Rock stars on the Highway to Health

Highway to Health with Tanya O'Callaghan and Derrick Green

Stephen and David of The Happy Pear are well used to cameras and a bit of play acting so nothing new to report there. What was slightly more unusual were some visitors they had to The Happy Pears OG HQ in Greystones.

Top class Irish musician Tanya O’Callaghan and her co presenter Derrick Green of Brazilian heavy metal band, Sepultura paid a visit to the ever energetic twins to check out their cafe and learn about how they started and why they have continued on their mission to get Ireland eating more wholefoods.

Tanya hails from Mullingar and has toured the World with various Rock bands over the years including Whitesnake, Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson, Steven Adler of Guns N’ Roses, The Riverdance, The Voice and David Grey to name just a few. Also known as The Plant Based Bassist on her social channels, she has been travelling the world with Co-host Derrick Green to find the best plant based food, eco innovations and living legends for their show Highway to Health.

.

Green who has been lead vocalist with Brazilian rock band Sepultura since 1997 says that the inspiration for the show from their experiences of travelling the world as musicians and seeing what is eaten in different cultures. The plant based diet is not only healthier but much friendlier on the pocket too with meat often being served at extortionate prices in so called ‘chic’ venues. Green went on to tell VegNews “We will not stop until this show is available for everyone to see; it’s always been our goal from day one,”

The Happy Pear has been alive since 2004 and has always had the simple mission of making Ireland Healthier through healthier food intake, more movement and consistent small changes to make big positive impact. They twins, David & Stephen are well known for their swimrise meet ups, their handstands and big grins but inside the minds of the Happy Pair are two shrewd business men who saw the opportunity for change and went for it. They opened Pearville in 2016, a 4 acre farm which produces upto 40 different types of produce throughout the year and they also have their own roastery onsite too.

If you are local, you know where they are and if not, they run online courses allowing followers from their 1million strong community to log on and enjoy their content from anywhere you can get wi-fi.
