Accomplished Rower Leann has previously taken on the Celtic Challenge, a 120km rowing challenge which involves rowing between Arklow and its twin town, Aberyswyth in Wales amongst other challenges.

120km route from Wales to Northern Ireland

This row differs to many challenge rows we see being that this is a continuous 3 day row. 12 people embarked on the boat on Friday, 11th August, 10 rowers and 2 navigators. At any one time, 5 rowers will be on the oars along with 1 navigator guiding. There are no pit stops and all food and supplies are carried on the boat which makes the logistics slightly trickier as the weight of the resting crew also needs to be carried by the rowing crew.

Each crew member has self funded their own journey on the boat meaning that all funds raised will go directly to AsIAm – Ireland’s National Autism Charity.
