Arklow Racquetball Clubs Toni Neary has played her heart out at the 21st European Racquetball Championships in Germany this weekend.
Commencing her medal winning streak, Toni and her teammates out played the host nation for their first Gold of their Championships in the Ladies team event. With plenty more in the tank, the Wicklow Powerhouse went on to seize a second gold in the ladies Doubles event.

.
In what was always going to be a tight match, an all Irish final made it an even more special event even before the Arklow woman and her team mate Aisling Hickey (Rossmore) powered through for Neary’s second gold of the tournament.
Current Women’s Open rankings place the 3 Irish women, Haverty, Neary and Hickey at 2, 3 & 4 respectively behind only Carolina Oña of Bolivia.

.
Ironically, Neary and Hickey would end up in a head to head vying for the Gold in the Open singles event. Hickey was the stronger player on the day with Neary coming off court with a very respectable silver medal.
In the mixed doubles event, it was Sean Lyng’s (Ballyanne) turn to team up with Toni Neary. The team did their country proud with a bronze medal after making it to the semi-finals.
The medal count for Neary standing at 4, we just hope she isn’t charged for overweight luggage on her flight home!
