Irishman arrested after threatening holidaymakers in Majorca with knife over ‘political row’

An Irishman was arrested in sunny Majorca last week after he went on a rampage following a ‘row over politics’

The man, who has yet to be identified, is believed to have produced a knife and threatened to stab other holidaymakers following a disagreement over politics.

The responding police described a scene of utter chaos after gaining entry to a hotel room by breaking in the door and neutralizing the suspect with pepper-spray.

The Irishman, who was described as being 6’5 and well-built, resisted arrested and forced local police to deploy pepper-spray in order to restrain him. Hotel receptionists referred to the Irish man as “out of control”.

Local reports also claim that objects were thrown at police as the accused was led outside in handcuffs following the brawl.

Majorca has been a popular holiday destination for years, but has also been the site of many stabbings and assaults on the part of Irish and British holidaymakers alike.

Local police have yet to comment on the incident.
