Minister concerned with rise in anti-social behaviour

Minister Simon Harris was recently in contact with An Garda Síochána in relation to reports of a spike in anti-social behaviour in Blessington.

Speaking on Friday the 22nd of September, Simon Harris said “Over the past few days, I have been in touch with a number of people from Blessington, all of whom are very concerned about recent anti-social behaviour, particularly around the town’s shopping centre.”

After listening to their stories and having seen a number of videos on social media on this, I want to condemn this behaviour in the strongest possible terms”.

I have been in contact with An Garda Siochana and will continue to actively pursue this matter with them.”

I am glad to confirm that An Garda Siochana in the Baltinglass district are treating this matter as a priority and are deploying extra units to address this.”

“As a local representative for County Wicklow, and as a former Minister for Justice, I am committed to supporting and creating stronger, safer communities, and I want to thank the Gardai for their commitment to tackling this problem and for putting a plan in place.”

“I will continue to liaise closely with An Garda Siochána along with members of the local community in Blessington until this matter has been resolved.” he concluded.
