Minister Simon Harris was recently in contact with An Garda Síochána in relation to reports of a spike in anti-social behaviour in Blessington.
Speaking on Friday the 22nd of September, Simon Harris said “Over the past few days, I have been in touch with a number of people from Blessington, all of whom are very concerned about recent anti-social behaviour, particularly around the town’s shopping centre.”
“After listening to their stories and having seen a number of videos on social media on this, I want to condemn this behaviour in the strongest possible terms”.
“I have been in contact with An Garda Siochana and will continue to actively pursue this matter with them.”
“I am glad to confirm that An Garda Siochana in the Baltinglass district are treating this matter as a priority and are deploying extra units to address this.”
“As a local representative for County Wicklow, and as a former Minister for Justice, I am committed to supporting and creating stronger, safer communities, and I want to thank the Gardai for their commitment to tackling this problem and for putting a plan in place.”
“I will continue to liaise closely with An Garda Siochána along with members of the local community in Blessington until this matter has been resolved.” he concluded.
