A woman suffered blunt force injuries outside a rural property in Tullamore, Co. Offaly.
The community of Tullamore, Co. Offaly has been left in a state of “profound shock” following the vicious assault which claimed the life of an as of yet unnamed woman.
The assault, which caused the woman fatal blunt force injuries, was caught on camera and shared on social media shortly after the incident.
Garda responded to reports of a violent incident in the area at 1pm today, where they found the body of the woman on a residential property. A young male, who was known to the victim, is currently being detained under section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in the midlands.
The state pathologist has been contacted and the scene is currently being preserved for forensic examination.
Images of the incident have been shared online and An Garda Síochána are warning users not to share the content any further out of respect for the families involved.
