Victim in ‘random knife attack’ was smoking cigarette outside Dublin airport terminal

A shocking and seemingly random knife attack outside Dublin Airport’s Terminal 1 has left a man in his 50s with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A man was left with serious injuries yesterday following what appeared to be a random attack with a knife outside of Dublin Airport’s Terminal 1.

The victim was smoking a cigarette when he was set-upon by a stranger who used a pen knife to stab the man at least seven times in the neck and abdomen, witnesses say.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at 11.30 AM yesterday and airport security services responded to the incident promptly before gardai arrived on the scene.

A suspect is being detained in a North Dublin Garda station as of last night.

The victim is currently recovering in Beaumont Hospital.
