Wicklow’s Niamh sings her way to Junior Eurovision selection semi-final

The talented young singer from Annamoe stunned judges with her Irish language rendition of “Counting Stars”.

TG4 are searching for Ireland’s candidate for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, and while competition has been heated, Wicklow’s very own Niamh Beatrix Smith (12) is already looking like a favourite.

Amongst all the praise she received for her performance, TV presenter Niamh Ní Chróinín noted that Niamh is “the one person that is better suited to this competition“.

While Niamh and her family only moved to Ireland from South Africa four years ago, success has come easily to the young star, and within those few short years she has already represented Ireland in the Oscar Hammerstein International Musical Theatre Solo Finals and performed a solo part in the 2020 Late Late Toy Show.

The young star stunned the judge’s panel with her Irish lanuage version of the popular song “Counting Stars” by OneRepublic. You can view her music video on her own Youtube channel by clicking here.

With talent like that, Ireland will do much better in the Junior Eurovision than we have in the adult one in recent years. No need to count stars – we already see a bright one right here.
