Blessington beat Rathnew to become Wicklow Senior Football Champions 2023

After a hard fought battle that ended in draw last week, the two teams met once again today to settle the score.

Blessington have beaten Rathnew 0 -11 to 1 -06 in a hard-fought victory that saw both teams drawn into a tense encounter.

Blessington’s Anthony McLoughlin and Rathnew’s JT Hayden were both absent for the match, and rather ironically, were supposed to be marking each other. The loss of McLoughlin could have proven disasterous for Blessington as they went up against a strong Rathnew defence in the first half.

There was much back and forth between the teams until Blessington came back to life after an interval, with significant goals from Paul McLoughlin, Mikey O’Connor, and man of the match Craig Maguire, bringing the team to their fourth championship.
