Gardai defer industrial action following new roster proposal

A new proposal from garda management may be the key to resolving the ongoing roster issues between the GRA and the Garda Commissioner.

A planned protest has been deferred following a new proposal from garda management regarding the ongoing dispute over rosters. Meetings had been taking place between the GRA and Garda Commissioner Drew Harris in order to come to a decision and industrial action had been planned in the instance where no agreement could be reached.

However, the last meeting appeared to be fruitful with the GRA seemingly pleased with a new proposal put forward by management, and industrial action has been deferred in order to accommodate further discussion based on said proposal.

It is believed that the proposed roster would see rank-and-file gardai working 4 days on, 4 days off, with 12-hour shifts – which is the roster system proposed initially by the GRA – while some members would be on the former 6 days on, 4 days off and 10-hour shifts.
