Solar panels to be installed in schools across the country

A new scheme will be rolled out over the coming weeks which will see solar panels installed in schools all across the country – including Wicklow.

The government had announced that it was going to pay for solar panels for schools over the summer, but delays due to lack of funding caused it to be pushed back.

However, Minister for Education Norma Foley has said that these issues have been resolved.

Green TD Steven Matthews said “I have been pushing for progress on solar panels for schools since it was announced last year. Welcome news from Minister Foley that confirmed the first phase of this nationwide school solar rollout will commence in the coming weeks.

I will continue to work with the Department of Education to ensure that Wicklow schools are supported in this transition to solar energy.”
