100,000 left without power as Storm Debi rages on

Orange weather warning

Storm Debi has brought mass power outages and coastal flooding in her wake.

Over 100,000 homes and businesses are without power, with ESB working around the clock to try and restore power.

Fallen trees due to the heavy winds have also been reported all across the country, with much road debris causing havoc for motorists.

Galway City and Oranmore have both been flooded, while Co. Cavan and Co. Louth have also experienced floods, downed power lines, and fallen debris. The public have been advised not to approach fallen power lines.

Forecasters have warned of a potential ‘danger to life’ caused by Storm Debi.

A Yellow weather warning is currently in place for every county in Ireland until 3pm today.
