Minister Harris wants lights turned on in Kilpeddar Village

Last August, funding was finally approved for new footpaths and public lighting in Kilpeddar Village.

However, Kilpedder Village is still waiting for the lights to be switched on despite the certificates for the lights being submitted weeks ago.

Speaking today Minister Simon Harris said “I am urging ESB and Wicklow County Council to urgently complete the required works and have the lights switched on as soon as possible.

“It is in everybody’s interest, especially for safety reasons as we head into the depths of winter, to have Kilpedder lights on.

“I know from speaking to many residents that the frustration is all but growing with the never ending delays to get this sorted.

“After a significant amount of emails and letters back and forth I was told ESB are currently awaiting the submission of certificates before the works could finally begin for these lighting structures.

“These certificates have in fact been submitted some time ago, so what’s the delay?

Minister Harris concluded “I want these works to be completed as soon as possible and have told ESB chief executive to do all that is possible to speed up the process and get the lights switched for the people of Kilpedder who have been waiting long enough for this basic amenity.”
