It was the Dublin-Wicklow Mountain Rescue’s 88th call out of the year.
The Dublin-Wicklow Mountain Rescue team and Glen of Imaal Irish Red Cross were dispatched on Sunday the 5th of November to help rescue a young person who had come into difficulty while hiking on steep ground in Glendalough.
Three parties assisted in the young person with a rope system which was used to extract them from the troublesome area. They were then accompanied off the hill to a rescue vehicle where they were taken back to Glendalough.
The operation began at 6pm and stood down at 23.29
Always at the forefront of moutaineering safety, the Dublin-Wicklow Mountain Rescue team also recently took part in an MR (mountain rescue) Party Leaders course last weekend, which was a chance for the team to brush up on their skills such as improving their search planning techniques, team co-ordination protocols, along with multitasking and multi-agency communications.
