Arklow Gymnastics Club will split to Norway for international gymnastics festival

22 gymnasts from Arklow Gymnastics Club heading to Norway in July 2024.

Arklow Gymnastics Club have today announced that they will be sending 22 of their own gymnasts to Norway for the 2024 EUROGYM festival from July 14th to the 18th.

The gymnasts, all between the ages of 11 and 18, will represent Ireland at the international gymnastics festival, featuring gymnasts from all over Europe. The event includes gymnastics displays, workshops and social events.  The aim of EUROGYM is to promote gymnastics and foster friendships and cultural exchange between athletes from different countries.

EUROGYM is a fantastic opportunity for our young gymnasts to develop their gymnastics skills and make new friends and experience other cultures.

The event takes place in BODØ, 1100km north of Oslo in Norway.  Bodø will be the European Capital of Culture in 2024. Bodø is surrounded by sea and fjord, it is the capital of Nordland County and lies just north of the Arctic Circle.

Preparation and fund-raising have already started, and Arklow Gymnastics Club are working hard on the new routine for this event, which combines gymnastics, dance and acrobatic gymnastics.

Writing on their official website, Arklow GC expressed their excitment: “EUROGYM is a combination of joy: the joy of doing gymnastics, the joy of meeting new friends, learning,  playing and travelling. The LOC is doing everything they can to prepare a great Gymnastics week for all of you.

The European Gymnastics TC-GFA is certain that all our gymnastics friends, taking part in EUROGYM will live an unforgettable week of sports, with lots of fun and will enjoy the hospitality of the Norwegian people.”

WicklowNews would like to wish the team the very best of luck next summer.
